2. REMINDER UPDATED Adverse Weather and Health Plan, United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) (information for all providers)

The United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has recently updated the Adverse Weather and Health Plan (AWHP v 2),

The council is asking social care providers to review their business continuity plans and ensure they are prepared for heatwaves and how they may affect your service areas and service users.

Make sure your services are able to take the necessary measures to support vulnerable service users, to consider any possible disruption to the delivery of your services, and to raise awareness.

The 1 June 2024 was also the start of the Weather Health Alerting System – Heat Health Alert operated jointly by UKHSA/Met Office, which runs until 15 September 2024. These are circulated via this weekly provider bulletin.

  • Green (preparedness): No alert will be issued as the conditions are likely to have minimal impact and health; business as usual and summer/winter planning and preparedness activities.
  • Yellow (response): These alerts cover a range of situations. Yellow alerts may be issued during periods of heat which would be unlikely to impact most people, but could impact those who are particularly vulnerable.
  • Amber (enhanced response): An amber alert indicates that weather impacts are likely to be felt across the whole health service, with potential for the whole population to be at risk. Non-health sectors may also start to observe impacts and a more significant coordinated response may be required.
  • Red (emergency response): A red alert indicates significant risk to life for even the healthy population.

3. REMINDER CONSULTATION Adult Social Care Internal Day Centre Consultation: ‘Your day, Your say’: deadline 9 July 2024 (information for all providers)

Adult Social Care are undertaking a 9-week consultation on internal Day Centres in the City. The consultation started on 7 May 2024 and ends 9 July 2024. The aim of the consultation is to ensure the internal Day Centres provide the appropriate support in an appropriate setting with citizens feeling part of their community and able to thrive and reach their full potential. We must also ensure we respond to our budget challenge whilst still supporting the citizens in the city who use the Centres, their carers and family members.

The purpose of the consultation is to make sure that everyone has a chance to tell the Council about their views on our proposals for the Adult Social Care Day Centres in ¶®ÒõµÛ.

The consultation is called ‘Your day, Your say’. The feedback that everyone provides will be analysed and will inform a report that will be considered by ¶®ÒõµÛ’s Cabinet Members in Autumn 2024 and a decision will be made about the future delivery of the Day Centres.
