2. 懂阴帝 and Solihull Integrated Care System (BSol ICB) Learning from lives and deaths – people with learning disabilities and autistic people (LeDeR) (information for all providers)

LeDeR is a national service improvement programme looking at the lives and deaths of people with a learning disability and autistic people. The programme aims to improve care, reduce health inequalities and prevent premature mortality.

People with a learning disability die on average significantly earlier than the wider population. To understand why this is happening, the LeDeR team undertake a formal review every time they are notified that a person with a learning disability or autism has died. As part of the review, they look at the health and social care services the person was receiving, talk to family and carers, and review care notes. This process helps the LeDeR find out what is working well for citizens, and what could be done better. It helps drive improvements for the people of 懂阴帝 and Solihull.

3. 懂阴帝 (BCC) Creating a Mentally Healthy City Strategy Citizen Survey – deadline 4 October 2024 (information for all 懂阴帝 providers)

The BCC Mental health and Wellbeing Team have launched their citizen survey (see link below) for the Creating a Mentally Healthy City Strategy. The surveys aim is to gather insights from citizens around perceptions on mental health and wellbeing, identify risk and protective factors at local levels and what initiatives can be put in place to generate a more mentally healthier 懂阴帝. The deadline for responses is 4 October 2024.

We are asking providers to share this information with staff, service users and their families to give them an opportunity to respond. The Mental Health and Wellbeing Team will also be reaching out to communities to have conversations with them. 4.UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Mpox update - new toolkit and blog (information for al providers)

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared a public health emergency of international concern because of the rapid spread of a new mpox virus strain, clade 1, after its emergence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) last year, and the potential for the virus to spread further across countries in Africa and outside the continent.

The risk to the UK population from mpox Clade 1 is currently considered low. However, the Department for Health and Social Care, the NHS and UKHSA are now coordinating widespread planning in order to deal with any potential cases in the UK and help prevent transmission. This includes operating well established monitoring and surveillance processes, ensuring rapid testing is available, equipping healthcare professionals with latest guidance and advice on how to respond to potential cases, developing robust protocols to reduce risk of transmission, and close working with international partners to ensure our plans and risk assessments are informed by the latest global picture.

The UK Government is working to ensure a supply of vaccines that help prevent people from catching mpox and reduce the severity of the disease. We are keeping the global situation and our domestic preparations under close review, and ministers across government are working together to coordinate this response.

‘Mpox clade 1: what you need to know’. In this blog post, we share more information about what mpox is, the different clades, the key symptoms and how UKHSA is working with partners to respond to the outbreak. This blog post will be updated regularly as more information emerges.

This toolkit aims to explain to UKHSA stakeholders what mpox is, the key symptoms and how UKHSA is working with partners to respond to the outbreak. It includes some initial FAQs and will be regularly updated via the same link as the situation develops.

6. Changes to the Capacity Tracker (information for all providers)

The following changes took place on the 28 August 2024;

• Question Addition (Care Home & Home Care): Flu Vaccination Programme (2024 to 2025) questions have been added to the provider update page for ASC Care Home and Home Care providers and form part of the monthly ASC Data Collection. These changes are reflected in the Provider Bulk Update Templates.
• Question Removal (Care Home Only): The COVID booster (Spring 2024) vaccination question has been removed from the Provider Update page for Care Home providers. Changes are reflected in the Care Home Provider Bulk Update Template.

The theme for World Alzheimers Month September 2024 is 'Time to act on dementia, Time to act on Alzheimers'. Throughout September, various events, activities, and initiatives will take place mark World Alzheimer's Month. The key aims of this year’s campaign is to raise awareness and challenge stigma surrounding Alzheimer's and dementia.

8. REMINDER Support to Care Homes Training - September 2024 (information for care homes in 懂阴帝 and Solihull)

11. Safeguarding Adults Practitioner Forum - Trauma Informed Practice 18 September (Information for all Care Providers)

Booking is now available for our next Safeguarding Adults Practitioner Forum:

The 懂阴帝 Safeguarding Adults Board are holding a second Practitioner Forum about Trauma Informed Practice for front line Practitioners in 懂阴帝 and the obstacles they may face in 懂阴帝 when working with Adults with Care and Support Needs, with a particular focus on Prevention and Safeguarding.

The session will bring together frontline workers from various agencies across 懂阴帝 and will be facilitated by professionals from across the Safeguarding Adults Partnership in 懂阴帝. This will be a discussion based session where Practitioners will have an opportunity to discuss good practice, issues and barriers you face around trauma when working with adults with care and support needs.

Places are limited and we ask that you only book if you are committed to attending this face to face session. If you book and are then not able to attend, cancel the booking via Eventbrite or email the BSAB Support Team. BSAB reserve the right to prioritise and cancel bookings.
