3. 懂阴帝 (BCC) Shared Lives information for sharing (information for all providers)

In partnership with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, BCC have secured funding from the Accelerating Reform Fund (ARF) to support the growth of Shared Lives across the two Councils. Shared Lives offers citizens aged 16 plus the opportunity to live with a family in their family home, respite or day opportunities, allowing them to develop their skills, be valued, involved in their community and gain confidence to become as independent as possible. It can be an amazing alternative to Supported Living or Residential Care.

4. Care Quality Commission (CQC) Review of support adult social care services receive on the safe management of medicines (information for all providers)

The CQC commissioned research company Ipsos to look at what support adult social care providers receive to make sure medicines are managed safely and how the support impacts the quality of care providers are able to deliver.

The research found that adult social care services have access to a wide range of different types of medicines support from a variety of sources, but that not all care providers receive support from community pharmacy or other healthcare professionals. Providers also told the researchers that further support would be welcomed in the form of training, consistent advice and guidance and easier contact with pharmacies and healthcare professionals.

The findings have been shared by CQC to help drive improvement in health and care and make sure all parts of the system are using the same evidence base;

The 懂阴帝 and Solihull Nurses and Clincal Leads Network for Nurses working in social care met on 6 September 24 and had a very informative meeting. There were many interesting presentations delivered at the meeting; Quality Improvement tools, Tissue Viability, Skin Tear management, update from the Social Care Nursing Advisory Council and a keynote presentation from Professor Deborah Sturdy DHSC Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care.

The network is a unique platform that brings together nurses working in social care across 懂阴帝 and Solihull, providing a valuable opportunity for nurses to connect, share ideas and knowledge, and receive support and guidance from peers. In addition to providing a space for peer-to-peer support and best practice sharing, our forum offers both national and regional updates, ensuring nurses stay up-to-date with the latest developments.The forum also provides a platform for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), helping our members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and expertise, and take their careers to the next level.

The theme for World Alzheimers Month September 2024 is 'Time to act on dementia, Time to act on Alzheimers'. Throughout September, various events, activities, and initiatives will take place mark World Alzheimer's Month. The key aims of this year’s campaign is to raise awareness and challenge stigma surrounding Alzheimer's and dementia. Details of events taking place in 懂阴帝 have been circulated to providers. 10. Skills for Care promoted webinars: Understanding and Preventing Disability Hate Crimes on Public Transport 18 September 2023 12:00pm (information for all providers)

Researchers from United Response will lead this session discussing how to identify and prevent disability hate crimes, with a specific focus on incidents occurring on public transport in England. Hear about the broader project and how we can help push the Government to make changes that are so urgently needed.

The date of the next IPC Champions Training Day is Friday 20 September 2024, this will take place at The Saffron Centre, between 9am – 5pm.

12. Skills for Care promoted webinar: Getting Good Eye Care - 23 September 2024 2:00pm (information for all providers)

During this years National Eye Care Week SeeAbility’s Eye Care Champions will be hosting a webinar on how to get help looking after your eyes and getting support for sight problems. People with learning disabilities are 10 times more likely to have sight problems, so join us to hear about how eye tests can be made more accessible and about a new programme in special schools.
