1. Capacity Tracker updates (information for all providers)

The following updates took place on 05 June 2024;

  • Question Removals - 'Covid-19 Recovery/Testing', 'Visiting Burdens' and some 'Visiting' questions will be removed from the Provider Update page for Care Home providers. Changes will be reflected in the Provider Bulk Update Template.
  • Question Refinements - Changes will be made to the 'Visiting' questions for Care Home providers. This change will be reflected in the Provider Bulk Update Template.
  • Data Input Assurance - Validation has been added to the Workforce Headcount section, preventing users from inadvertently reporting conflicting data.
  • Terms of Use - Changes to the Terms of Use will be made after 5 June 2024.

2. Creating spaces for meaningful engagement with family and friends in care homes - research partnership opportunity (information for all ¶®ÒõµÛ Care Homes)

Dr Katia Attuyer from School of Geography at the University of ¶®ÒõµÛ is starting to explore the provision, or lack of, spaces for families and friends in Care Homes and their potential impact on the wellbeing of clients.,

She is interested in liaising with a small number of care home staff to help inform and shape this research. She is looking to have conversations with staff and potential families. This is a great opportunity to share best practice, highlight untapped potential and expertise.

3. Infection Prevention Control Care Home Champions Forum 2 July 2024 (Information for all ¶®ÒõµÛ Care Homes)

The Infection Prevention Control Team are hosting a Forum focusing on Quality Improvements, what that looks like, how we can achieve quality, and celebrating the work that has already been done by the sector. There are guest speakers, presentations, interactive discussions and a celebration award ceremony.

4. REMINDER ¶®ÒõµÛ Community Healthcare Gloveless Campaign (information for all ¶®ÒõµÛ providers)

Are you gloveless when supporting residents with their hydration and nutritional needs? Good hand hygiene, before and after, and bare below the elbow is much safer for your residents and kinder to the environment.

5. REMINDER CONSULTATION Draft Domestic Abuse Prevention Strategy – Deadline 16 July 2024 (information for all providers)

Thank you if you participated in the BeHeard consultation on our new draft Domestic Abuse Prevention Strategy at the end of last year.

This strategy is crucial in driving how we will tackle domestic abuse, support survivors and hold perpetrators to account, and your feedback has been invaluable in focusing our city priorities and shaping the full draft. 

We have just launched a public consultation on the full draft strategy, and we need both professionals and citizens to share their views. The consultation is open until the 16 July 2024. The online survey (see link below) should take about 10 minutes to complete and is completely confidential.

6. REMINDER Support to Care Homes Training June 2024 (information for ¶®ÒõµÛ and Solihull care homes)

The Support to Care Homes Team virtual training for all Care Home staff across ¶®ÒõµÛ and Solihull Care homes information has been circulated to providers. If you don’t have a copy, please email marketintelligence@birmingham.gov.uk

There are valuable informative training sessions this month on;

  • Management of Deterioration
  • Infection prevention
  • Pressure Ulcer prevention
  • Falls
  • Dementia awareness
  • End of Life

The training will be hosted by the Solihull Support to Care homes Team and is open to all Care Home staff across ¶®ÒõµÛ and Solihull care homes and joining details can be accessed via the BSol Healthzone Care Home App.
